Lab4U&Spaces project can be seen as a Living Lab of Interactive Urban Space Solutions to which the three research lines converge, by merging physical and digital elements, to promote a safe and sustainable interactive urban solutions that can respond with high adaptability to the needs of the most diverse urban contexts and communities (ex. mobility, environment, etc.). This will be achieved by the research activities planned under the scope of this project and the three research lines included, namely: (1) Urban space, community, environment and technological interfaces; (2) Universal cyber-physical elements; (3) Smart & sustainable products for urban space.

There is a strong connection between the research lines and two main priorities for Norte Region Smart Specialization Strategy: "Culture, Creativity and Fashion", especially in the areas of Design and Architecture; and "Mobility Industries and Environment", as well as with two missions in Horizon Europe: "Adaptation to climate change including societal transformation" and "Climate-neutral and smart cities".

The three research lines bridge the gap between urban intelligence and physical, virtual and digital elements, sharing the commitment with developing replicable added value products to drive new uses of urban spaces.
